We all love the look and feel of a brand new wig or a new set of extensions. However, we all know the challenge of keeping them looking and feeling that way for as long as possible.
Firstly it is important to understand that most of the hair on the market will have gone through some processing in order to achieve the array of beautiful colours we love. In order to give the hair that perfect shine and movement a coating of keratin is usually added to the hair.
This coating is what we need to protect in order for to maintain that perfect shine and movement. Here are a few tip and product suggestions to help do this.
1. Try not to wash your wig or extensions if you do not need to, remember this hair is not attached to your head so does not benefit from natural oils from your scalp that will help to keep it moisturized. When you do wash them make sure you use a sulfate free shampoo then condition and moisturize.

2. Use a heat protectant. The best way to protect your purchase is to use very little heat where possible. Just like your hair excessive use of heat will slowly damage the hair follicles.
