ree

If you have just invested in a new human hair wig as its a good choice - however there are some tips on looking after the wig and in this post we talk about washing, blow drying and how to store the wig.

If you don't take care of your human hair wig it will become dry and frizzy.

Human wigs don't have the natural oils normal hair does so its really important to maintain your wig and ensuring the wig is looked after with just a little TLC.

How often you wash your wig depends on your life style, usually we recommend every 2-3 weeks and the more you wear your wig you'll notice when its in need of a re fresh.

Step 1;

Always detangle with a detangler any knots in the wig before you do anything.

Ensure you get all the knots at the nape of the keck and hair line these places get the most tangled.

Step 2;

Always use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner or even use products advertised for wigs.

fill a bowl or the sink with warm water and some shampoo and ensure the shampoo is fully dissolved.

Place the wig in the bowl or sink and let it sit for 5 minutes to really ensure the wig is soaked through.

make sure you clean up the lace of any dirt, oils or makeup just be very gentle when doing so as the lace can be fragile.

You can always add extra shampoo onto the wig if you think its needed and gently massage into the wig, all the way through the ends being very gentle. don't scrub or rub the wig this can cause damage.

Rinse out the shampoo until its all gone and the water runs clear, gently press the water away.

Step 3;

Place the conditioner at the ends of the hair only never place conditioner on the root or lace part of a wig.

Leave the conditioner on the hair for 5-10 minutes to soak in.

Then rinse out the conditioner with lukewarm water until the water runs clear and there is no residue left on the wig.

Step 4;

Gently ring out the wig to remove the water, not to hard as you don't want to damage the wig.

Grab a towel and gently dab the excess water from the wig, this is all it needs not need for harsh squeezing or ringing.

Place the wig on a wig stand or balance on a tap and let drip dry, avoid direct sunlight.

Try to avoid using any heat as this can cause damage to the wig, and can cause fizziness and dryness and may even cause breakage.

Once the wig is 80% dry you can always add hair oil made for wigs to just help the wig lock in the softness.
