Can braids get wet?

You can get your braids wet in the shower, in the swimming pool and in the rain. However, we recommend taking certain precautions to as your hair can damage, frizz and fluff.

Frizz is one of the risks associated with wet braids. Water causes your natural hair to swell and expand, and when it dries, it often looks much frizzier than before. A single dip in the pool is enough to ruin certain hairstyles.

Box braids and cornrows don’t frizz up as much as a single French or Dutch braid or a crown braid would. It all depends on the tension applied during the braiding process – the less tension applied during braiding, the frizzier the hair will be after it comes in contact with water.
